Our company started out in 1974 as Style-Mark Inc., as an offshoot of Sauder Woodworking. After being led through its first 25 years by the Beck family in Archbold, Ohio, the company was purchased in 2000 by SBR, Inc. of Parkersburg, West Virginia. In 2001 we changed our company name to Style Solutions to more accurately reflect how we help building professionals and homeowners.

Architectural Traditions, initially named Southwest Door Co, was founded nearly a quarter of a century ago by Tucson-based, "Master Builder" Mark Butler. At that time, Mark specialized in building custom homes that reflected the Southwest's architectural building and design traditions. To create these homes and achieve an authentic design, Mark fabricated many of his own building materials, such as mud adobe block, latillas and hand-hewn beam ceilings, and eventually doors, windows, and hardware. As Mark's homes gained local and national renown, there was great interest in the materials he used, specifically for the doors, windows, and hardware. Builders and architects from across the country began to inquire where they could purchase these materials. This led to the formation of Southwest Door Company.

Sun Mountain was founded in January 1998 as a dealer/distributor, pre-hanger and pre-finisher of doors and moldings to higher-end Colorado homes along the Front Range and in the mountain ski resort communities. Although prefinished cabinets were common in that day, as they are today, almost no suppliers offered pre-finished doors and mouldings. Our offerings created market demand for high-quality wood finishes that could only be achieved in a controlled environment, using specialized equipment and industrial-quality coatings. Our ability to offer a higher-quality finish at a better value than onsite painting led to rapid growth. As our sales grew, we began to put significant demand pressure on our custom door slab suppliers. Ultimately, this led to our vertical integration into manufacturing our own doors. Over time, our factory grew from a small 30,000 square foot facility to the 105,000 square foot, state-of-the-art production facility we have today.
